Two days after Christmas we all loaded up into the van and headed to Utah! Talk about the party car - every seat was taken!!
I was super excited about being in the way back between Madi and Cal and actually what we initially thought was going to be a cramped nightmare trip, turned out to be the best trip I've ever had to Utah!
The 4-4 adult to kid ratio was pretty awesome!!
Yup, we partied it up in the back seat!!
On one side of me, Madi rotated between reading Harry Potter and knitting her 1st scarf. On the other side Cal was just chillin - listening to his music and enjoy the new Christmas gift we got him! Notice the new watch on his wrist too!
And the very dirty windows!! Eek!
It took us about 5 1/2 hour to get to Vegas where we stopped for the night. Madi, Elle and Cal couldn't get out to the pools fast enough. It was already almost 5pm and only 55 degrees, but nothin was stopping them!
I just wanted to sit in the hot tub, but they all convinced me to get in for a lap around the lazy river. Madi swam laps around us so didn't make it into the picture.
Dad and Spence went to get Cafe Rio while I got the kids showered and ready for bed. Sweet baby James couldn't last one more minute and snuggled into Gram for a nap. Oh this baby just melts my heart!
We got up early the next morning for mom and I to squeeze a work-out in down at the gym. Then we were on the road again!
The kids were such good travelers! I can't believe I didn't get a picture of my crazy knitters. Both girls finished their scarves by the time we got to Utah! It was super nice having mom's help too!
It was such a relaxing drive I think all of us in the back got a nap in.
One of my favorite moments of the entire trip was when Cal saw snow for the first time. First it was just on the mountains, then a little on the side of the road, and then more and more. The commentary between Cal and Elle was priceless and I wish I'd gotten it on video. . .
"SNOW!! There's snow on the side of the road!!
Is that really snow?!?! No really mom, Is that SNOW!?
This is SO AWESOME!!!"
We decided to pull off at the nearest gas station to let them all touch it!

We made it to BYU around 3pm. There's just something magical about bringing our kids back to where Spence and I both went to school. SO many memories here!
It was a successful visit - we were able to get Elle'e 8th birthday present, Christmas gifts for Gram Rox, Aunt Fay and Uncle Bob, and BYU shirts for the kids!
Then it was on to Riverton to see Uncle Bobby, Aunt Amy, and Porter!!
