It was wonderful! I'm so grateful for these 3 beautiful kids of mine and my sweet husband who helps me raise them right! I had to head to the airport at 8:45 to pick up a friend that I visit teach, so I was up early to shower and get ready. Right after getting out of the shower I was greeted by these beautiful faces with a delicious breakfast smoothie!
And the table was covered in the most thoughtful Mother's Day cards.
This is the kind of stuff I love about Mother's Day. Sweet, handwritten notes mean the world to me. I remember as a kid my parents always told us not to buy them stuff, so we always gave them handmade gifts and cards and now I understand. All these notes made my day!
Let's see this one close up - to enjoy those cute drawings! :)
The inside of that sweet card- I love lists, especially when they are lists of things someone loves about me!
This is a stack of note cards Madi made in school. She drew the pictures at the top and bottom and the teacher made copies and cut into fourths. Loved the idea!
Elle's primary teacher made cute little magnets with their picture on it with a box of chocolate hugs.
Cal's nursery leaders helped him make the cutest card with his handprints inside.
Flower he made at joy school!
Church was fabulous. The primary kids sang the first verse of "We'll Bring the World His Truth" singing a new verse about Mother's for the second verse: "Our Mother's Know the Scriptures are true. By their example we learn in our youth. Their faith is strong, so ours too will be. Our mother's know it and so do we."
It was powerful and our huge group of primary kids looked like Helaman's Army up there.
As much as I wanted to enjoy all the talks by our youth, I was feeling extra sensitive this Mother's Day for some reason. Maybe it's because I'm more aware of the people in our ward who haven't been able to have kids, or because my childhood friend recently lost her only child to cancer, or because of the conversation I had on the way home from the airport with the sister I visit teach who told me about how hard Mother's Day always was for her. She tried and tried for years to have kids and never could. Luckily she was finally able to adopt but told me how it always felt different than actually being able to conceive and deliver her own child. My heart aches for those who desperately want to have kids and can't. Even though I'd love to have more kids (just not sure it's ever going to happen), I feel extremely blessed for the 3 kids I do have.
The young women took over in primary for the 3rd hour allowing all the women teachers and leaders to attend relief society together. It was great!
After church we went to Boppi and Grandpa Al's for a delicious dinner made by our husbands (BBQ chicken, salmon for the moms, rice, rolls, salad, chocolate cake and ice cream). As tempted as I was to jump in and help out, it was so nice to just sit back, relax, and chat with mom and Lindsay in the family room while we watched the guys figure out where everything was and to get everything ready and on the table. They did an amazing job! Wish I would have taken a picture of our dinner, but I was having too much fun watching all the kids playing together. I know how much our kids adore their cousins and it makes me so happy to see what good little buddies they all are.
