Calvin

This boy melts my heart on a daily basis!

He turns 4 one month from today and couldn't be at a sweeter/easier stage to become a big brother!

I'm pretty confident there was a reason it took us so long to get pregnant. 

Calvin is so ready and excited to become a big brother - anytime I ask him about doing certain things, he always responds with, "I will do that once I'm a big brother."

I really hope I'm not crazy thinking that this transition to 4 kids is going to be super easy. 

Cal is so much fun to have conversations with. I love watching him with his friends and what a leader he has become. Just the other day Cal tells me, "Text all my friends mom and tell them to meet me at the park!" He loves going to the park and riding bikes with his friends.

I need to get a picture with him and all his biking buddies! We go to Pitts Ranch park every Friday at 11am and have started bringing bikes which has added a whole other element of fun!

This balance bike has been the best thing ever! Cal will be riding a pedal bike in no time!

Being "almost" 4 has also brought on a whole other level of independence. Cal LOVES helping in the kitchen! He's always right by by side, wanting to add ingredients, mix, stir, etc. His new found joy has been peeling carrots. He's really good at it too! 

We eat carrots with ranch every afternoon with our lunch.

One Sunday afternoon I gave Cal the job of marking recipes he wanted to make. He took this job very seriously! 

It's been such a fun year having Cal as my sidekick everywhere I go. He's super easy to bring places. I've been able to do reading in Elle's class every Tuesday this school year (with baby coming, my last day was this past Tuesday). We also help with art. I taught the first 2 art lessons (stained glass heart Valentines project, and the color wheel) which was super fun for me. Ms. Todd is always so sweet to let Calvin join right in. 

This past Friday was our last Friday helping with art. I love how seriously Cal took his pinch pot making!

A couple of things I've been wanting to document - so that I never forget this sweet stage . . .
* Cal loves to hum. Anytime he's in a good mood, and lost in play mode, I'll hear Cal humming throughout the house. I really need to get a video of it.
* The transition from nursery to primary was the easiest thing ever. Cal is super reverent, always participates, and is a very attention listener. I love that I get to serve as Primary President and be with all my kids in primary.

* Cal loved looking at all our Christmas cards this year and pointing out all his cousins and friends.

* He's such a sweetheart and blows me kisses anytime he has to leave me. One morning I was on my elliptical in the garage and every time he walked out of the garage, he'd have to wave to me and blow me a kiss.

* At night Cal's routine is to have me kiss the palm of each of his hands, and then give me a hug and say, "I love you mommy." 

I always respond with, "I love you my sweet wonderful boy."

* It sure is nice that he's totally independent on the potty now!

* He's my best eater (always has been) - asks for salad and always wants fruit and veggies.

* Calvin has such a soft tender heart. His sisters laugh about how sensitive he is, but I love it. He get his feelings hurt easily, but is really good about communicating why he's sad. He's come in and tell me, "That made me feel really sad." Then we're able to talk it out and make it all better.

* He's my only kid who I can make a scratch all better with a simple kiss.

* Out of the blue, he'll run up and give me big hugs. Oh how I hope he never grows out of this habit.

Sure love my handsome, flip flop wearer, who likes to walk around with his hands in his pockets. I hope he never changes!
