James 1st Birthday!

My baby is ONE!!!

This past year flew by faster than any other. 

It was so weird looking at my phone on his birthday and seeing March 1st. For some weird reason I fully expected it to say Feb 29th. 

This sweet boy has brought so much love and happiness into our family.

Then we did a cake smash in the evening with Boppi, Grandpa Al, and Terry and Beede families. 

Unfortunately James woke up on his birthday morning with a runny nose (yet again) and ended up taking an early nap. He wouldn't go back down for a 2nd nap later so was totally exhausted by the end of the night when we were ready to celebrate. 

Sadly he was so tired and overstimulated that he wanted nothing to do with his cake. 

He burst into tears when everyone started singing happy birthday to him. 

We thought he'd be more interested in presents. 

No such luck. Lots of help from siblings and cousins.

We were finally able to try the cake again on Saturday afternoon after James woke from a great nap. But even under the perfect circumstances, James wanted nothing to do with his cake. 

He sure was a cutie though and gave me lots of great smiles! 

I thought maybe if I cut up the cake and gave some to his brother and sisters 

then maybe he'd want to join in. Nope!

I was ok with him not taking in all that sugar and not leaving me with a huge mess to clean up! 

This baby boy melts my heart on a daily basis. 

My favorite things this past month were James learning to wave (and waving at everyone), blow kisses, and clap. The other night before bed, when James finished nursing, he pulled off, looked up at me, waved, and then blew me a kiss. Oh my heart was bursting!

At ONE James still nurses 3 times a day. He eats peaches and cheerios in the morning. 

His go-to snack is graham crackers, bananas, and applesauce. 

I'm still experimenting with dinners but know he likes pasta and Hawaiian haystacks. 

He pulls up on everything now and walks along the furniture but still prefers crawling. 

We're all smitten with our handsome guy who is still a novelty in the family. We all want to rush in to be the first to get him in the morning and love the sweet peace he brings into our home.
