5 months

I know everyone always says it, but seriously..... 5 months really have flown by! Elle's such a big girl now -already wearing clothes that her older sister wore at 9 months! She's now 16 pounds and just last week moved up to size 3 diapers! Looking back at this past month I'd definitely have to say that Elle's biggest accomplishment was sleeping through the night. Since the first episode, she's done several other nights of 11 or 12 hours straight. And if she doesn't sleep through the night, she's only up once (totally doable- and something I secretly enjoy). Don't tell me I'm alone in my desire to pick up my baby girl in the middle of the night and snuggle her close- something I will most definitely miss when I'm done having babies. Oh, and some exciting news- Elle's become a little sunggler! I absolutely LOVE it!

Luckily Elle sleeps good at night cause naps haven't been the greatest this month. For some reason she only likes to sleep for an hour at a time. But then she only lasts a short time before needing a nap again. I blame it on our daily trips to and from the Metro. I can't count how many times I've had to wake Elle up from a nap to go, or keep her from going to sleep to pick Spencer up. Luckily she's easy going about it all and never puts up a fuss!

This month Elle's become much more social. She's very aware of what's going on around her, and wants to turn and look at everything (this might be another reason for the poor napping). With this comes an awareness of who her favorite people are- and of course, those she's not familiar with. Sadly, I think Elle's already in the early stages of stranger anxiety. Several friends have picked her up to hold and play with her only to result in a sad little girl. As much as I did NOT want this to happen to Elle, it's a hard thing to prevent when we don't live close to family and I'm the person with her 24/7. Of course I enjoy being the one she loves the most (ok, aside from Madi- and Spencer's also a close second), but I dread what might lay ahead with babysitters, swapping kids with friends, and when she starts nursery

As for other changes..... our little 5 month old got her first hair cut yesterday! Having a baby with hair has been super fun for me! However, the mullet had to go!

I didn't really do the greatest job- I think I cut it too short, but it'll grow fast- right?!

Wow- what a haircut! That's gotta be at least an inch and a half!

In celebration of Elle's fifth month of life, we're hopping on an plane this afternoon and flying across the country to L.A. There she will get to meet her Grandpa Al and Boppi for the first time! We're all very excited!
